Hanna Campground provides a serene hideaway, tucked just a few miles off Spearfish Canyon. Perfectly situated near many local attractions, this campground offers quick access to premier fly-fishing, scenic hiking trails and the breathtaking views of Spearfish Canyon. The campground offers a mixture of pull-in sites, ideal for RVs, and walk-in only tent sites. Nestled between a mountain stream and the rugged cliffs that tower above, Hanna Campground provides a stunning basecamp for your next adventure.
Hanna Nature Trail is an approximately 1 mile loop trail that originates right from the campground. The trail meanders across two small streams as it climbs the steep and rugged cliffs that rise above the campground. The trail eventually winds it's way up to spectacular vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys below.
Spearfish Canyon. The entrance to Spearfish Canyon at Cheyenne Crossing is just 2.5 miles away. Spearfish canyon offers a spectacular variety of recreation options including: hiking, climbing, fishing and nature viewing. Fall colors in the canyon make the hillsides glow in yellow and gold while the cool bubbling waters of Spearfish Creek offer a mini-escape from the bustle of everyday life. Check out Roughlock Falls, Spearfish Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls in the canyon as you take in the breathtaking scenery of Spearfish Canyon.
Stageyard ATV/OHV Trailhead is situation approximately 4.5 miles south of Hanna Campground. This trailhead is the gateway to six motorized trails that are part of that system, designed for OHVs 62" or less in width.
From Lead, South Dakota take US-85 / US14A southwest for 7.8 miles to Hanna Road. Then turn left onto Hanna Rd. Take Hanna Road south for 2.2 miles. Hanna Campground will be on the left side of the road. The first entrance leads to sites 1-7 and site 14. Just to the south of the main entrance are two small parking pull-offs that access the tent-only sites 8-13.
