About Cave Creek Campground

Overview

Cave Creek Campground is open for reservations Memorial Day - Labor Day weekends. Sites are open to tent camping only and cannot accommodate RVs or travel trailers.

Reservations are accepted 1 month in advance either online or at one of the visitor centers between 9 am and 4 pm. Visitor centers are located at 201 Caves Highway and 21000 Caves Highway, Cave Junction, Oregon 97523. Only credit/debit cards are accepted for all cave tour fees, campground fees, and Interagency Passes.

Entrance to Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve is free, but cave access is only available with a guide.

The Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve offers a variety of hiking trails through old growth forests, high mountain meadows, or along babbling moutain creeks. The surface areas of the park remain open year-round. There is no fee to enter the park or hike the surface hiking trails.

Looking for an adventure? Explore a mountain inside and out. Twist and bend through angled marble passages deep underground on a ranger-guided tour of the Oregon Caves. Wonder at the smooth flowstones, stalactites and stalagmites. Above ground, you can hike old growth forests and high mountain meadows. Visit, discover, and have fun. Cave tours generally run late March through early November. Hiking trails are open year-round.

Getting there

The drive from Cave Junction to the Cave Creek Campground takes a minimum of 45 minutes. The last 8 miles up the Caves Highway are narrow, steep, and winding. Large RV's and Travel Trailers are not recommended. Car sickness is a real possibility. For Googlemap and similar applications, enter "Oregon Caves" - make sure "Oregon Caves National Monument" comes up as your destination. DO NOT trust Google Map, GPS devices and similar applications - from the east these direct you through Williams Oregon and over a confusing route on mountainous gravel roads.
